An Alpine traverse through mountain huts, glaciers and villages in the heart of Valais. The journey connects Montreux, Sion and Zinal with five trekking days, high-altitude lakes, the Glacier Express and a final chapter beneath the Matterhorn in Zermatt.

Buffer day · Montreux
A gentle walk through the old town and along Lake Geneva to acclimatize, recover from travel and begin breathing in the Alps.
- Day 1
Montreux · Sion · Zinal
Transfer and cultural walk through Sion and its medieval murals before continuing to Zinal, surrounded by five peaks above 4,000 meters.
- Day 2
Zinal · Cabane de Tracuit
A demanding 8.5 km ascent with 1,064 m of elevation gain and views of the Weisshorn glaciers. Overnight at Tracuit hut above 3,200 meters.
- Day 3
Tracuit · Arpitettaz
A lighter descent through high meadows and changing valleys. A 5.6 km stage to the traditional Arpitettaz hut at 2,786 meters.
- Day 4
Arpitettaz · Petit Mountet
Cross into a new massif and approach Zinal Glacier on a 7.9 km route. Overnight at Petit Mountet, 2,142 meters.
- Day 5
Petit Mountet · Moiry
Cross an Alpine pass above 3,000 meters into the Moiry valley, with lakes and new mountain views throughout the 5.9 km stage.
- Day 6
Moiry · St. Luc
A gentle 4.1 km walk to the Alpine lakes before continuing to St. Luc for a well-earned night in the village.
- Day 7
St. Luc · Zermatt
A panoramic journey through the Alps aboard the Glacier Express, arriving in Zermatt for an evening in one of Switzerland's most iconic mountain towns.
- Day 8
Zermatt · Five Lakes Trail
A final 7.6 km hike among mirror-like lakes and Matterhorn views, followed by departure from Zermatt the next day.
