A first window into high-altitude hiking in Mexico: a medium-low difficulty experience through forest, volcanic sand and loose rock. It is designed for active travelers who want to move above 4,000 meters with a safe, guided progression.

The itinerary

  1. Saturday · 7:00 AM

    Departure from Guadalajara

    Meet at the Yellow Towers in Parque Metropolitano and transfer toward the mountain.

  2. Saturday · 10:00 AM–1:00 PM

    Supplies and arrival

    Final stop before the dirt-road ascent to La Joya base camp.

  3. Saturday · 1:00–6:00 PM

    Camp and acclimatization

    Camp setup, lunch, a gentle acclimatization hike and time to explore.

  4. Saturday · 6:00–9:00 PM

    Fire, dinner and rest

    Group activities, dinner, hot chocolate and s'mores before bed.

  5. Sunday · 3:30–7:00 AM

    Summit push

    Night preparation and ascent with an estimated summit window around 7:00 AM.

  6. Sunday · 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

    Breakfast and breakdown

    Return to La Joya, recovery breakfast and camp breakdown.

  7. Sunday · 12:00–4:00 PM

    Return to Guadalajara

    Transfer back to Parque Metropolitano and trip close.
